Sydney is a Therapist in Training at the Bloomington Center for Connection from the Mental Health Counseling program at Indiana University Bloomington (IUB). Sydney received their Bachelor’s degree in Psychology and Theatre from Northwestern University, and combines academic rigor with a passion for the arts to create a unique, trauma-responsive, therapeutic approach.

Identity and Personal Philosophy: As a queer, AuDHD, woman of color (WOC), and fat-affirming advocate, Sydney understands the challenges of navigating a world not designed for everyone. Her lived experiences drive her commitment to helping clients develop tools that best serve their individual needs.

Therapeutic Orientations: Sydney’s approach to therapy is grounded in:

  • Relational-Cultural Therapy (RCT): Fostering growth-fostering relationships and emphasizing the healing power of connection.

  • Decolonial and Anti-Oppressive Frameworks: Challenging oppressive systems and promoting inclusivity.

Core Beliefs: Sydney believes in the power of authenticity and genuine connections. She emphasizes the importance of showing up as our true selves to form connections. Sydney is particularly dedicated to supporting those historically marginalized, advocating for an inclusive and celebratory approach to diversity that enhances growth and connection.
